State

Since emerging on the political scene in 1999, the New Majority has become one of the largest contributors to Republican candidates, not just in California, but across the entire county. In California, the New Majority has supported fiscally responsible politics and initiatives like Propositions 56, and 57 that helped rescue California from looming budget deficits.

California State Legislature

The New Majority Orange County suppored Mimi Walters for State Senate in the 33rd District and Diane Harkey for State Assembly in the 73rd District. The Orange County Chapter was proud to see both women won reelection in their respective districts.

Redistricting Reform

The New Majority and its members have contributed over $250,000 towards Redistricting Reform in California. In the 2008 General Election, California voters passed Proposition 11 - Redistricting Reform. To learn more about Proposition 11 and the importance of Redisticting Reform, please visit their website at http://yesprop11.org/

The Orange County Chapter is always looking to make a difference in Republican politics. Here are a few ways in which they are leading the way.

Growing Republican Opportunities to Win (GROW)

Background:
The Growing Republican Opportunities to Win Committee (GROW) just completed its first year and continues to identify quality Republican candidates, with an emphasis on bringing diversity into the Republican Party.  The next step of the GROW Project is to do a media, fundraising and strategy training for the identified potential candidates.

The GROW Committee promotes activities that aim to better align the GOP with the priorities of the majority of California women. The committee seeks to assist the California GOP in delivering “female friendly” messages to candidates and the electorate, increase registration numbers of Republican women and support the California GOP in its efforts to elect and appoint women to positions of power.

Over the next year, GROW will work to identify and encourage quality candidates to run for state legislature and statewide offices.  GROW Committee Chairman Caroline Beeson and Project Director Elizabeth Hansell continue to travel across the state of California to identify potential candidates who would be viable office seekers in the years to come.

Voter Registration in Central Orange County

Following our successful efforts in 2005-06, The New Majority will continue working with the Orange County Republican Party to increase voter registration in Central Orange County.  In 2005-06 the voter registration program produced more than 19,000 new Republican registrations, thousands of which were first time Latino and Vietnamese voters.
